Website Needs Improvement

Merchant Center says “website needs improvement”? Fix trust before you appeal.

This issue usually means Google sees the website as incomplete, unclear, inconsistent, or not trustworthy enough for Shopping surfaces. The fastest path is a practical cleanup pass before requesting review.

What to fix first

Do not start with the appeal. Start with the visible site quality issues that can make a reviewer or crawler distrust the store:

  • Remove placeholder text, empty pages, broken links, and inactive navigation items.
  • Make contact information easy to find, including email, phone, and business address when applicable.
  • Make shipping, return, refund, privacy, and terms pages specific and internally consistent.
  • Confirm checkout works, HTTPS is active, and payment options are clearly visible.
  • Clarify product descriptions, product images, pricing, availability, and delivery expectations.
  • Remove unsupported claims, exaggerated guarantees, or vague trust badges.

Why this affects revenue too

The same trust gaps that can trigger Merchant Center review issues also hurt conversion rate. If buyers cannot quickly understand who you are, what they are getting, how shipping works, and what happens after purchase, they hesitate.

That is why DreamUp treats this as both a compliance problem and a revenue problem. The cleanup should help with reinstatement readiness and make future Shopping traffic more likely to convert.

Before requesting review

Document the fixes. Keep the appeal specific and factual: what issue you found, what you changed, and why the store now meets the policy. If there are still obvious gaps, wait until they are fixed.
